    Description

Wild Greek Dried Oregano Bunch 40g - Oregano Bulgare - Harvest  2022 Certified
Oregano might be a humble herb with a glorious name, nonetheless. In Ancient Greek, Ορίγανον: όρος+γάνος = η λάμψη του βουνού is the joy, the brightness of the mountain. Ancient Greeks would crown bridal couples with wreaths of oregano as a blessing of happiness upon their marriage.
Oregano is one of the most popular Mediterranean herbs and one of the foundations of Greek cuisine. Greece happens to be where the most praised varieties come from and Mount Taygetus is home to the most favoured of all Greek oreganos. The herb has been used since the antiquity as a food flavouring and medicine mostly for respiratory diseases
Some of the presently known benefits of oregano include:
Antibacterial - While oregano has shown antibacterial properties, it also appears to have a selective profile in that "bad" bacteria like E. Coli and others that do us harm can be reduced or eliminated, yet good bacteria can continue to thrive. One recent study showed that oregano has the potential to improve digestion by reducing harmful pathogens in the gut, and allowing beneficial flora to thrive.
Anti-Inflammatory Properties - Some of the compounds in oregano, specifically diosmetin, apigenin, luteolin and rosmarinic acid appear to have benefits of reducing inflamation in the body.
Arthritis - There is some evidence that increased consumption of oregano may help with rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. More scientific research needs to be done to confirm the claims, however.
Painful Menstruation Oregano has been used for centuries to treat menstruation pain and discomfort. While the scientific evidence is sparse, there does seem to be enough experiential claims to warrant further scientific investigation.
These are but a few of the health claims that have been attritubed to Greek Oregano.
