Description

Star Anise is one of the signature flavors of traditional South East Asian cooking.  The flavor is Anise like but not as sharp.  Primarily produced in Vietnam and South China, Star Anise is the seed pod of an evergreen tree.
Whole star anise is used to flavor tea, marinades, and soups. It is integral to the traditional Vietnamese soup pho, and is used in many other Chinese and southeast Asian dishes. Ground star anise, besides being used in baked goods, is a main ingredient in Chinese Five Spice powder.
Our Star Anise is intended for cooking and may include different sizes or some broken pieces.  If your intended use is not culinary, please buy extra so you can hand select the desired specimens for your project.
