Description
Potassium metabisulfite is a popular wine additive and sanitizer used to inhibit wild yeasts and bacteria in fresh fruit prior to fermentation. It is also used after fermentation for its anti-oxidant and preservative effects. In white wines, it preserve color and prevents oxidative browning. The addition of sulfites is considered to improve the overall flavor of wine and preserve its delicate qualities. When dissolved in water, it is also a safe and effective sanitizing solution for plastic, glass and metal surfaces.Weight:

Usage:
1/4 tsp in 5 US gallon (3.79L) yields approximately 50 ppm free SO2 (Sulfur Dioxide)
50 to 75 ppm SO2 is commonly used to treat fresh fruit or juice musts
150 ppm SO2 is commonly used to stabilize wine at the time of bottling
Use 8 tsp in 1 US gallon of water for use as a sanitizing solution
Use 2oz in 1 US gallon of water for use as a sanitizing solution
Use 1/4tsp in 6 US gallons of wine for use as an antioxidant or bactericide
