Pair of Georgian British Candlesticks in Sheffield Plate, circa 1790

Description
Particular pair of candlesticks in old Sheffield plate in George III style. On the base of oval shape there is an octagonal step, to it is connected a stem always with octagonal profile, also the upper part of the candlesticks takes up the shape of the base and the bobeche too, the whole structure of the candlesticks is then lightened and slender by a delicate decoration with Fine parallel lines. The candlesticks have no marks, but the homogeneity of these shapes is the result of a careful stylistic study that reminds us of the silversmith J. Parsons & Co. (Sheffield 1783), specialized in the manufacture of this type of candlesticks. Never been re-plated, they present a beautiful contrast between silver and copper and they are weighed down by pitch, as was customary at that time.
