Large Marionette Puppet from Thailand

Description

A large old marionette puppet from Thailand, 28" tall.  It has articulating hands and mouth.  Years ago I wrapped the lines to keep them from tangling.  I regret not just cutting them off, as I never had any intention of using it.  The clothes show fading and wear, and the sleeves have separated from the shoulders of the garment but this is hidden by the broad yoke.  The puppet was apparently painted while dressed, as can be seen by the smears of paint inside the sleeve in the photo of the hands.  The ear flaps are lined with newspaper with what I believe to be Thai printing.  The back of the head has a hole in it, I'm not sure what for.  The shoes each have a bird on top of the toes.  Purchased at auction 30 years ago.
